CBD Topicals
Our topical CBD products combine luxurious ingredients, nutrient-rich formulations, and pure essential oils infused with full-spectrum Colorado hemp flower extract. We take pride in offering our exceptional CBD Relief Balm (previously known as Wowzer! balm) and continuously search for new topical options that meet our rigorous standards. Our collection also includes CBD bath bombsβtechnically not topicals since they're absorbed through the skin rather than applied directly, but we include them in this category anyway.
CBD Creams and Topicals
Steve's Goods CBD creams and topicals are crafted for site-specific use β a measured rub on the muscle group, joint, or stretch of skin you actually want to address, rather than a whole-body sublingual serving. The collection includes our flagship Relief Balm, full-spectrum salves, CBD lotions, and roll-ons. Every formula uses Colorado-grown hemp extract and a clean carrier base of plant butters, beeswax, or food-grade emulsions β no parabens, no artificial dyes, no synthetic fragrance.
Topical CBD works on the cannabinoid receptors in the upper layers of the skin and the surrounding tissue rather than the systemic endocannabinoid pathway you reach with a tincture. That means the action stays local to where you applied it. It also means the milligram-on-label number translates differently than it does in an oil β we'll cover what to look for below.
How CBD topicals work
The skin has CB1 and CB2 receptors throughout the epidermis and dermis, plus on sensory nerve endings, immune cells, and sebaceous glands. A topical CBD cream brings cannabinoids into contact with those receptors locally. Because the skin is also a barrier, formulation matters: the carrier base, the percentage of CBD by weight, the particle size, and the supporting ingredients (menthol, camphor, arnica, magnesium) all change how a topical actually feels in use.
Our higher-strength balms run 1,000β2,000 mg of CBD per jar. The medium-strength roll-ons sit around 500 mg. The lighter daily lotions land near 200β300 mg per bottle. Higher milligram counts give you a stronger per-application serving but the right strength depends on the use case β a daily face lotion and a post-workout balm are different problems.
What's in a Steve's Goods topical
The Relief Balm base is a beeswax + organic shea + jojoba structure with full-spectrum hemp extract, menthol, camphor, and our house terpene blend. The roll-on uses a lighter emulsion designed for fast absorption and pocket portability. The full-spectrum salves swap menthol for arnica and a heavier butter base β better for evening use when you'd rather not smell like a locker room.
Every batch is third-party lab tested. The COA shows total cannabinoid content (CBD, CBG, CBN, delta-9 THC), terpene profile where applicable, pesticide screen, heavy metals, residual solvents, and microbial. The COA is linked from each product page; if the page hasn't been updated with the current batch's COA, the SKU isn't in cart.
How to use a CBD cream or balm
Start with a small amount β a pea-sized scoop of balm or one or two roll-on passes. Apply to clean, dry skin and rub in until the carrier disappears. Wash hands afterward, especially before contact with eyes. Most users feel the carrier-system warmth (menthol, camphor) within minutes; the cannabinoid action layers in over the following 20β30 minutes and lasts several hours, depending on the formula and the skin in question.
If you want CBD in your routine more broadly, layer a topical with our CBD oils or our CBD gummies. The topical handles the local; the tincture or gummy handles the systemic.
Frequently asked questions
Will a CBD topical make me feel "high"?
No. Topical CBD does not enter the systemic bloodstream in concentrations sufficient to produce intoxication, and the trace of delta-9 THC in a full-spectrum topical (under 0.3% by dry weight) is several orders of magnitude below the threshold for psychoactive effect through skin.
Can a CBD topical cause a positive drug test?
Topicals are very unlikely to cause a positive standard immunoassay test, but they're not zero risk on full-spectrum formulas. If you are subject to drug testing, choose a broad-spectrum or isolate-based topical and check the COA for confirmation.
How often can I reapply?
As often as the use case calls for. Most users reapply every 4β6 hours when actively using a balm. Daily lotions are formulated for once or twice a day on intact skin.
Are the topicals safe for sensitive skin?
The roll-on and lotion bases are formulated to be gentle, but anyone with very sensitive skin should patch-test on a small area and wait 24 hours before broad use. The full ingredient list is on every product page and on the jar.
Is the menthol/camphor in the Relief Balm necessary?
It's part of the formula's character β the carrier-system warmth gives you immediate sensory feedback while the cannabinoid component absorbs. Users who don't want that note should look at our menthol-free salves instead.
