Short answer: pick by what you want the product to do to your day. A CBD gummy is the general-purpose, any-time option. A CBN gummy is the evening one. A Delta-8 gummy is a different category altogether — Delta-8 is a form of THC, it is intoxicating, it is for adults 21 and over, and it is restricted in some states. If you do not want to feel altered, the real choice is between CBD and CBN.

What you’ll learn

  • The one question that separates CBD and CBN from Delta-8 before anything else matters
  • Which gummy fits a morning, an evening, or a weekend
  • Why drug testing pushes the decision in a specific direction
  • What to check about your own state before you buy a hemp-derived THC product
  • How to read the label and the batch report so the choice is based on data, not copy

This guide exists because the three products get shelved next to each other and sold as if they are interchangeable strengths of the same thing. They are not. Two of them are routine products. One of them is an intoxicant. Getting that straight first makes the rest of the decision easy.

When does a CBD gummy make sense?

CBD is the default, and it is what I hand people who have never taken a hemp product. It is the most abundant cannabinoid in the plant, it has the deepest body of published research behind it, and it is the easiest one to verify with a batch report.

People take CBD gummies as a daily habit rather than an event — the same slot a multivitamin occupies. Pick CBD if you want something you can take on a workday without thinking about it.

One fork in the road: isolate versus full-spectrum. Our full-spectrum gummy carries the wider plant profile, trace THC included, which is a real consideration if you are drug-tested. The CBD gummies guide walks through the difference in detail.

When does a CBN gummy make sense?

CBN is the evening cannabinoid. The living plant barely produces it — it forms after harvest as hemp ages and oxidises, which is why it was historically hard to buy on purpose and is now produced deliberately.

It is the cannabinoid the industry formulates into evening and sleep-category products, and that is what our CBN gummies are for: the last hour of the day. Pick CBN if what you actually want is an end-of-day ritual rather than an all-day one.

What I will not do is promise you a night’s sleep. I make gummies; I am not a doctor, and a gummy is not a treatment. If sleep is a genuine problem, that belongs with a physician. The CBN guide covers how CBN is produced and what to look for on a label, and CBN versus melatonin compares it to the other thing on that shelf.

When does a Delta-8 gummy make sense — and who should skip it?

Be honest with yourself about this one. Delta-8 is a form of THC. It is intoxicating. That is the point of it, and it is why our Delta-8 gummies are sold to adults 21 and over.

Skip it if you are drug-tested for work, you need to drive or work, you are looking for something to take every morning, you are pregnant or nursing, or you take prescription medication. Skip it also if your state restricts hemp-derived THC — several do, and that list is not static.

Consider it if you have decided you want an intoxicating product, you have confirmed it is permitted where you live, you have a clear evening with no obligations, and you are willing to start at the smallest serving on the label and wait. Edibles are slow. The most common mistake with any THC edible is taking a second one before the first has arrived.

If you want the chemistry rather than the buying advice, the Delta-8 vs. Delta-9 guide and the hemp THC guide go deeper.

How do I actually decide?

  • Do you want to feel altered? If no — the choice is CBD or CBN, and Delta-8 is out. This is the question that settles most of it.
  • Are you drug-tested? If yes — isolate-based CBD or CBN, and skip both full-spectrum and Delta-8.
  • Morning or evening? Morning routine leans CBD (or CBG, which is our daytime formulation). Evening leans CBN.
  • Every day, or occasionally? Daily habit points to CBD or CBN. Delta-8 is not a daily-habit product.
  • Does your state allow hemp-derived THC? Check before you add Delta-8 to a cart — see HempData.

Still torn between the two non-intoxicating options? The day-and-night bundle is the cheapest way to try a daytime cannabinoid and an evening one side by side, and the CBD vs. CBG vs. CBN comparison covers that side of the shelf.

Can you combine them?

CBD and CBN together is common and unremarkable — CBD through the day, CBN in the evening. Adding an intoxicating product on top of either is where people get into trouble, usually because they stacked before they knew how each one landed on its own.

The rule that has never failed anyone: one product at a time, the serving on the label, same time of day, for long enough to form an opinion. And never combine an intoxicating product with driving, alcohol, or a shift at work.

What should I check about my own state?

Hemp rules are written state by state, and the hemp-derived THC category is where they differ most and change fastest. A page like this one that printed thresholds would be wrong somewhere within a month, so it does not.

Check your own state on HempData, which tracks current status for all fifty. It is the compliance platform we built for our own catalog, and it is the same source our team uses before a shipment goes out. Two things worth knowing before you look: a state can permit CBD and still restrict hemp-derived THC, and the rules for buying are not always the rules for travelling with a product.

How to read the label and the batch report

Whichever of the three you land on, the buying check is the same:

  • Find the batch certificate of analysis. Not a generic PDF for the product line — the report for the batch in your hand. Ours are on the lab reports page.
  • Read the full cannabinoid panel, not just the headline cannabinoid. This is where you find out what else is in the jar.
  • Check the contaminant screening — solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, microbials. A potency-only report is half a report.
  • Read the ingredient list. Every gummy we make uses a vegan fruit-pectin base and natural tapioca syrup rather than gelatin and corn syrup — see our ingredients.
  • Match the serving size to the label, and give it time before you reconsider.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CBD, CBN, and Delta-8 gummies?

CBD and CBN gummies are non-intoxicating by formulation and are used as routine products — CBD at any point in the day, CBN in the evening. Delta-8 gummies are different in kind: Delta-8 is a form of THC, it is intoxicating, and it is sold to adults 21 and over. If you do not want to feel altered, the choice is between CBD and CBN and Delta-8 is not in the running.

Which one should a first-time buyer choose?

CBD. It is the most widely documented hemp cannabinoid, it is the easiest to find batch-level lab data for, and it gives you a baseline to judge everything else against. Add CBN later if you want an evening product. Only consider Delta-8 once you have decided you actually want an intoxicating product and you have checked that it is permitted where you live.

Will CBD or CBN gummies make me feel high?

They are not formulated to. CBD and CBN are not the intoxicating cannabinoid in hemp — THC is — and our CBD and CBN gummies are built on isolates. Full-spectrum products are the exception, because they carry the whole plant profile including trace THC. Delta-8 gummies are intoxicating by design.

Do Delta-8 gummies show up on a drug test?

Assume yes. Delta-8 is a form of THC, and standard workplace panels are not built to tell one form of THC from another. Full-spectrum CBD products carry trace THC and can also be a risk with heavy daily use. If you are tested, the safer route is an isolate-based CBD or CBN product, and you should still read the batch report.

Can I take a CBN gummy and a Delta-8 gummy together?

We do not recommend stacking an intoxicating product on top of anything else while you are still learning how each one affects you. Add one product at a time, keep to the serving size on the label, and never combine an intoxicating product with driving, alcohol, or a work shift.

Are Delta-8 gummies allowed in my state?

That depends entirely on where you live, and state rules on hemp-derived THC change often. We are not going to print an answer here that goes stale — check your state at hempdata.io/states before ordering, and note that some states restrict hemp-derived THC products even where CBD is unrestricted.

How old do I have to be to buy these?

Our Delta-8 and Delta-9 products are sold to adults 21 and over. Our CBD, CBG, and CBN products are sold to adults 18 and over unless your state sets a higher minimum. State minimums vary — check yours.
