Cannabigerol (CBG) is a hemp-derived cannabinoid. In the living plant, cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) is the precursor molecule that enzymes convert into other acidic cannabinoids as the plant matures, which is why mature hemp generally contains less than 1% CBG by weight. Commercial CBG comes from hemp cultivars bred to retain higher CBG content at harvest, processed under USDA hemp regulations.
