CBG Oil

What is CBG Oil? What makes a good CBG tincture?

Whether you are discovering CBG Oil for the first time, or you want to understand more in terms of what CBG is, we explain cannabis strains, the Cannabigerol cannabinoid, what it does, and what it doesn’t do. We hope you enjoy this Full-Spectrum University blog resource we created to be a quick and informative resource for you.

So what (in the hemp?!) is CBG?

CBG (Cannabigerol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that is typically screened for in potency tests for minor cannabinoid concentrations. In the natural state, few cannabis genetic variations ever register CBN as more than minor (meaning traceable and detectable, but not dominant or major, within the full-spectrum profile of cannabinoids unique to a particular test sample).  That said, it has been detected among THC and CBD collection samples, meaning it can be tested for and found in marijuana and hemp, albeit in small amounts per trace sample.

How is CBG is similar to THC and CBD?

Cannabigerol is referred to metaphorically as the “mother cannabinoid” or the “stem cell molecule” in cannabis by many cannabis evangelism and science circles.  Admittedly, the science behind minor cannabinoid studies is slow to develop, though that is not to say the cannabis community lacks an understanding of its value and potential application. What we do lack is the efficiency and sample availability that is needed to scale such research.

What is CBGa? Which is most-effective? (CBG or CBGa)

The ‘a’ is a denotation to the acid-activated state cannabinoids convert into, typically in reaction to heat or metabolic decomposition and digestion. The “CBG” nomenclature at the prefix of the name “CBGa” is the “part” of the cannabinoid that is activated. This acidic state ‘converts’ into one of the two activated major cannabinoids inside the plant: CBDA or THCA. Though it is theoretically possible and scientifically expected that CBGA can convert into any trace cannabinoid while ‘live’ within the plant, it is unclear if CBGA can convert outside of a living cannabis plant.

CBG is considered a minor cannabinoid

Naturally occurring within the hemp plant, Cannabigerol typically registers in only trace amounts as most CBGa converts into THC and CBD (THCa or CBDa) upon plant maturation. Most testing is performed on mature plants or on extracts and/or concentrates of mature plants. As time passes, genetics are controlled and environmental conditions are tweaked and altered to scientifically “trick” hemp plants into producing various cannabinoid profiles that do not occur in uncontrolled conditions.

The view of CBG as a minor cannabinoid is likely to change

This means the answer to “what is CBG oil” is likely to change. In the coming years as a result, and many genetics are already being conditioned for higher-yields of CBG than were than previously possible. This trend will result in the development and cultivation of new hemp strains will contain higher amounts of CBG to further benefit the end-user.

Early studies of Cannabigerol are revealing

CBG may be powerful enough to dominate human cannabinoid receptors, even in the concurrent presence of other major cannabinoids. We have reason to believe it can accelerate reduction in psychoactive effects from THC, essentially “kicking it off” the human cannabinoid receptors. In our own, non-scientific experience, dabbing or smoking CBG produces the feeling of a polar shift from a THC dab or joint, and offers a feeling of clarity.

Why study CBG, and do you want Cannabigerol in your CBD Oil?

CBG may add deeper relief and help guide the CBD and other cannabinoids around the receptors working more efficiently and for longer. We gather to study CBG, to discuss its supplemental therapeutic effects, and to conduct our own “shade tree” research. In utilizing this around the office, Steve’s Goods family has experienced a lot of positivity and improvement from the short term use of it.

Cat Novak from THC Magazine said: “it is the best tasting CBD Oil I have ever tried!” talking about our CBG Oil.

We recommend two types of CBD Oil:

  1. Our original CBD Oil with full-spectrum raw CBD oil containing CBD, CBG, CBC, and CBN, mixed with local raw honey, and real plant terpenes for flavor.
  2. Our CBD + CBG Oil with broad-spectrum CBD, CBC, CBN, and up to 10% CBG! In our opinion, this is the paradigm answer to “what is CBG oil” questions.
